Resilience & Reverb was created to serve individuals looking to grow through interactive musical experiences.  Individually tailored functional voice lessons, performance based lessons and health focused music therapy sessions are on a weekly basis and start with an assessment of preferences, strengths and areas for improvement. Virtual Music Therapy Sessions

Board certified individual music therapy services with Resilience & Reverb are administered by Rebecca McBride, M.M., MT-BC, via HIPPA compliant virtual platforms. Session notes and medical information including referral information and patient information are stored in a HIPPA secure digital provider portal. The governing body for board certified music therapists in the United States is The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) which defines music therapy as “the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.” - AMTA Populations served at R&R include but are not limited to individuals with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, depression, oppositional defiance disorder (ODD), anxiety, dyslexia, speech disorders, depression, medical stress/fatigue, and unspecified developmental disorders. Ages 6 and up. Domains addressed in music therapy include social, emotional, cognitive, communicative, motor, behavioral and mental health. The instruments used, songs experienced, and activities shared are chosen based on client preferences. Common goals include but are not limited to increasing emotion regulation and emotion identification, increasing upper body fine and gross motor skills, decreasing anxiety and depression, increasing social skills, and increasing augmented alternative communication (AAC) skills.

Virtual Performance & Music-ed Focused Voice Lessons

Voice lessons at Resilience & Reverb are individually tailored based on age, vocal assessment and client goals. Common overarching goals addressed in voice lessons include increasing healthy vocal technique and habits, developing vocal expression, increasing musical enrichment, polishing performance material, and preparing audition materials. More specific needs addressed may include increasing body awareness to achieve supported and tension free singing or increasing music knowledge and skills by practicing sight-singing or ear training. Learned techniques are applied to each client’s preferred music styles. Ms. McBride brings 30 years of performance experience and 23 years of voice instruction in choral, operatic, rock, contemporary Christian, musical theatre, blues, pop and country singing styles. Please note that for virtual lessons, headphones/earbuds are best, and an external mic is preferred but not required. Ages and Recommendations Voice lessons are available for ages 9 and up with occasional exceptions. 30 minute lessons are generally recommended for ages 9-12 and for teens seeking musical enrichment as their main lesson goal. 45 minute lessons are recommended for ages 13 and up as well as younger individuals needing tension release work, and individuals who require tutoring/coaching for multiple songs (eg. all-region auditions or role prep)..

Unique Voice Options For Teens and Adults Ms. McBride has combined her strengths to develop a synthesized and specialized skillset for serving people who need assistance finding, strengthening, and supporting their voice. Teens and adults may want to consider functional voice lessons for non-performance voice or breath related issues to build skills with one-on-one guidance in body awareness and sound making. Note: If an emotional, developmental, social or traumatic component is a large component of your or your loved one’s vocal needs, please consider our HIPPA compliant virtual board certified music therapy sessions.

Rebecca McBride, M.M., MT-BC, owner

Owner of Resilience & Reverb, Rebecca McBride, M.M., MT-BC, has been teaching voice lessons for 23 years and has over 30 years of performing experience. She is especially skilled at helping singers, presenters, and individuals with voice related trauma find their own authentic, tension free voice. Clients learn to increase singing skills, decrease vocal tension, increase breath and body awareness, increase self-expression and self-awareness, and find their vocal confidence. With a masters degree in vocal performance from Wichita State University, a bachelor of music from the University of Arkansas, and a bachelor degree in music therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Ms. McBride has the experience and education to support a wide range of musical needs.

Other Interests

When not teaching or facilitating sessions, Ms. McBride likes to spend time walking her senior dog, identifying local flora and fauna, volunteering, laughing with friends and family, curating music for the Fayetteville chapter of CreativeMornings, and of course, she is always singing.
